A research by a group of Egyptian scientists from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Alexandria shows that Green Tea is an effective antibacterial. They presented the results of their research to the Congress of the Society for General Microbiology in Edinburgh. According to the scientists, taking antibiotics while drinking Green Tea would triple their effectiveness in combating bacteria that have developed resistance to the drug.

It was found that the properties of the Tea made the bacteria 20 percent more sensitive to cephalosporins, a class of antibiotics to which new strains of bacteria have developed resistance. The result achieved had surprised the researchers themselves since it has been shown that in the majority of cases and for all types of antibiotics tested, drinking Green Tea, even in low concentrations when you take the drug, appeared to reduce the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics.
